Decorating is a hobby that I hope to make a
career soon, so when one of my favorite blogs, Apartment Therapy , roused a challenge to "cure" a room of your choice, I
accepted! It wasn't hard for me to hone
into my kitchen, which I'd chosen to pretend didn't exist. I had no idea how long a
"freshener" like mine would take, and I was surprised when it took
the whole month. Apartment therapy lead us through a day by day planner and I
followed it, until my design project took on a life of itself.
and filled my mind with inspiration. When I was ready, and the Style Cure told me too, I drew up a realistic plan. Realistic is important because you don't want to start
something you can't finish! I'm fortunate because my husband is a carpenter so
I could include some pretty ambitious projects that I otherwise would not
attempt.
My husband built the island and shelves from oak left over from a previous project.
Before I installed the shelves I painted the
walls with Valspar- Passive, and White. We painted the door to the mud room
Valspar- Gleeful.
There's so much more I'd love to do to
complete my kitchen Reno, but as of now I am a renter, and some things must be
left as is. If I could, I'd replace the refrigerator with a
retro style fridge like this one
from Smeg. I'm also still on the hunt for the perfect rug-something
dark grey I think.
It's really my own business the environment I
choose to live in. I don't have to impress anybody. But I will say that my home
Reno made me proud, and I feel in some
way made my family proud of me too, and that's what's really important to me!

I'd love to hear about any home renovations you've done or any that you've been inspired to do!
